陳式太極拳競賽套路 56式 Chen Style traditional 56 form for tournament
Another 56 demo. It’s interesting to me because it’s so extreme. Very overt silk-reeling; stances so low (you’ll see!); yet with an “offhand” bloody fast fajing that I find oddly attractive. Good thing I didn’t see this clip when I was starting up with Chen, it would have messed with my head real bad!

Hmmm, guess I should add – I’m no expert on these matters but it seems clear to me that he’s intermixing Long Form elements into his “56″ set. Note that this clip is 7.5 minutes long, that’s a long slow “56″ IMO. But right from the get-go you’ll see some traditional moves that I would say are not normally associated with the Competition Form routine.

fyi, this is the chen 56 competition routine. He’s doing it in a more ‘traditional’ manner. This leads me to believe his background is in more traditional methods than the competition wushu-taiji methods.
